EDITOR’S NOTE: I’m on the road for work this week, so the full pick ‘em will come on Saturday, but since it’s still early in the season and thus I’m still dedicated, I’m writing this TNF preview on my iPad in beautiful Heathrow, FL. #Dedication
MIN @ PHI –7: The Eagles survived a weird one in Foxborough last week and are 1-0 despite a lackluster performance. Jaylen Hurts looked painfully average, missing wide open receives, (and by missing I mean not even looking at them, not making a bad throw) fumbling in crunch time and failing to make any meaningful plays after the first quarter. The Patriots gifted the Eagles 10 points early on and still had a chance to win in the last minute of the 4th quarter. Week 1 was NOT Philly’s best effort.
The Vikings lost to BAKER FUCKING MAYFIELD and the Buccaneers, a team that entered the season without Tommy for the first time since 2019, 20-17. Kirk threw for 340 and Jefferson had 150, but they managed only 34 rushing yards on 14 carries by non-quarterbacks. Could have used a guy like, I don’t know, Dalvin Cook.
Both teams looked bad in week 1, but the Eagles figured out a way to win while the Vikings figured out a way to lose.
On a short week, early in the season, I think the Eagles will get right while the Vikings will start 0-2, leading to things getting interesting in Minnesota given Kirk’s contract status and their flameout in the playoffs last year. Eagles win by 10+ in a laugher. Pick: Eagles
